Meet our new National Water Trail Coordinator

We are excited to share that we have hired Mikayla Erickson to be our National Water Trail Coordinator! Mikayla has been with the St. Louis River Alliance for 6 years and is currently serving as the Piping Plover Project Leader where she has successfully trained seasonal staff and managed the habitat site, while passionately sharing all things Piping Plover.

A University of Minnesota Duluth graduate, Mikayla has a degree in Environmental Sustainability and Geography with a background in organic farming and a drive to connect people of all ages to the natural world.

Mikayla is excited to further explore her dedication with the St. Louis River and immerse herself with the beauty and diversity of the National Water Trail, while also sharing this beauty with others. “Connecting with the people in my community has always been something that fills my cup, and fuels my motivation. I look forward to sharing my passion for human connection and the environment as a whole, while addressing socio-economic barriers along the way” says Mikayla. “Together we can all be stewards of the river and create meaningful relationships and memories on the water.”

We are looking forward to all the ways Mikayla welcomes people in and helps connect folks to the St. Louis River Estuary National Water Trail! Keep an eye open for future outreach and stewardship event opportunities so you can get to know her.
