In the News: ‘St. Louis River Alliance Clearing Way for Endangered Piping Plovers’

Mikayla Erickson led a team on July 18th, consisting of five volunteers and four SLRA Seasonal Monitors, at the Piping Plover Habitat on Wisconsin Point removing debris and clearing the shoreline. This work allows for shorebirds to forage freely on tiger beetles and small marine worms found beneath the sand.

Click here to learn more about the work Mikayla is doing, and to hear St. Louis River Alliance member Pat Ocken speak on what the river means to him as a St. Louis River Alliance Member. Thank you to everyone who joined the Alliance and for working so hard in the heat. We made a HUGE difference in one day. Stay tuned on social for more habitat dates through August!
