Calling all amateur and professional photographers! We are looking for your portraits of wildlife, animal behavior, the relationship between people and nature, plant life, weather, seasons, recreation and harbor activities for our 2021 photo contest.
Seasons of the St. Louis River, an Area of Concern Photo Contest, is an opportunity for members of the public to use their talents to show the diversity of the St. Louis River Estuary and the importance of the remediation and restoration efforts being undertaken there.
All eligible photos will be taken within the St. Louis River Area of Concern, especially the St. Louis River Estuary and the Duluth/Superior Harbor. Prizes to be determined and communicated at a later date.
General Guidelines:
Photos must be taken within the St. Louis River Area of Concern (see map), especially the St. Louis River Estuary and the Duluth/Superior Harbor
Photos must be taken between January 1, 2021 and September 30, 2021
A minimum resolution of 6 megapixels will be accepted
The official contest begins Monday, May 3rd, 2021 and goes until Monday, October 4th, 2021

A panel of judges will select the top three photos in each of these categories:
Fish, Wildlife and Birds in their natural habitat
Plants and Flowers
People, Recreation and Harbor Activities
Underwater photographs are encouraged for all three categories
First place in each category will be awarded $150 and showcased on the St. Louis River Alliance Facebook page and website. Second and Third place in each category will also be highlighted on the St. Louis River Alliance’s social media pages and website.
Photos will be voted by the public online to select the "People's Choice Photo” winner. The "People’s Choice Photo” winner and the photo will be highlighted as the cover photo on the St. Louis River Alliance Facebook page with photo credit, along with being published on the 2021 SLRAOC Remedial Action Plan.
Photographers maintain rights to the photo but grant the partner agencies permission to use with photo credit
