Our 2016 Canoe and Kayak Tour and Picnic was to be held on Saturday, August 6th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. This year’s event planned to feature points of interest on the lower St. Louis River Corridor mostly focusing on the Wisconsin side where there has been extensive wild rice planting by the Fond du Lac band. We also had a plant expert scheduled to join us to help identify the native (and not native) plants and their medicinal uses as we tour. We hope you’ll join us for next years tour! Check back next summer for the 2017 Tour details and registration form.
About The Tour
The annual canoe tour is a great opportunity for both experienced and non-experienced canoeists to explore the beautiful St. Louis River.
We ask participants to bring their own canoe or kayak if possible. Canoes, paddles and PFD’s are available for registered people who do not have their own.
We usually have a limited space on a pontoon on a first-come-first-served basis for those unable to paddle. Please register early for these seats.
We invite experts who speak to the group at key locations. A picnic lunch is be served at the end of the tour.
The cost to participate is only $5 for SLRA members (or $20 for the whole family.) Non-members can sign up for only $10 per person ($30 for a family). Children under 12 are free, but must be accompanied by an adult. A limited number of canoes and kayaks are available, free of charge, for those who don’t have one. Register early to reserve one.
