Annual Canoe Tour and Picnic

Please see note at bottom:  Registration is now closed for 2018 Canoe Tour.

The St. Louis River Alliance (SLRA) will be holding its 2018 Canoe and Kayak Tour and Picnic on Saturday, August 11th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This year’s event will feature points of interest on the lower St. Louis River mostly focusing on the Minnesota side. There will also be a plant expert with us to help identify the native (and non-native) plants and their medicinal uses as we tour.

The tour will begin at Chambers Grove Park. There will be volunteers helping direct parking and boat drop off.The annual canoe tour is a great opportunity for both experienced and non-experienced canoeists to explore the beautiful St. Louis River.Bring your own canoe or kayak if possible. Canoes, paddles and PFD’s will be available for registered people who do not have their own. (Must have paid RSVP to reserve equipment by August 9th 4:00pm). Please register early for these seats. There will be experts who will speak to the group at key locations. A picnic lunch will be served at Chambers Grove Park at the end of the tour. The event will be held rain or shine, however, if the conditions are unsafe we will cancel.

The cost to participate in this year’s event is only $5 for SLRA members (or $20 for the whole family.) Non-members can sign up for only $10 per person ($30 for a family). Children under 12 are free, but must be accompanied by an adult. A limited number of canoes and kayaks are available for those who don’t have one. Register early to reserve one.

Registration for 2018 Canoe Tour is now closed.  If you have already signed up and received confirmation, you may still use the button to pay.  If you don’t have confirmation but would like to come and have your own canoe or kayak, please call 218-733-9520 to see if you can still sign up.  (We have calculated food for our picnic already).  We do not have any more canoes available at this time for this trip.  Please sign up early next year or check for future events here! There’s lots more to come.
